The Resurrection means (1) – I know I am forgiven

Paul tells us that if there was no resurrection, then we believe in vain. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is vital because it sends out a clear signal that His sacrifice was acceptable.

On the Cross, Jesus too our place. He bore our sin, shame and guilt. He received the penalty for sin that you and I deserved.

We can sometimes forget this – or at least act practically as though we have. We seem to have a spiritual amnesia. We continue to carry guilt and shame. Shame means that we hide from the truth. Shame means that we run away from circumstances. The Gospel means we can come out into the open.

Because I am forgiven by Christ I can be open and honest about my failings.

Because I am forgiven and the Resurrection tells me this is true, I am free to forgive others.
