Easter 2017

If you live in the Bearwood and Smethwick area, we would love to see you at one of our Easter events next week. There’s plenty of different activities and gatherings to choose from including opportunities for reflection, questions and celebration. The whole family is welcome (from 0-100) and there’s always something for everyone. Our week starts with Nueva Vida on Saturday and continues through to Easter Sunday evening.

“Why did Jesus die?” – Nueva Vida, Saturday 8th April from 5pm

Our Spanish language service meet every Saturday. This week, I will be speaking (in English with translation). We’ll particular be looking at the question “Can I be possessed by evil spirits and if so, is there a special set of prayers I need to say to set me free?” Many people have learnt to live in fear of spirits and spiritual oppression and there are people who prey on this stoking superstition and manipulating people, often for money. On Saturday, we’ll see how Jesus’ death and resurrection sets us free from such fear.

Palm Sunday Services “The Bruised Reed” 9:30 and 11:15am on Sunday 9th April

Isaiah 42:1-4 describes Jesus as a servant and portrays him in a way that contrast sharply with the model of leadership we often see portrayed by political leaders today.

Sunday Clubs for children will run as usual and there will be tea and coffee served from 10:30am -11:10am.

Our Sunday evening congregations Engage (5pm) and Sunday night Church (6pm) meet as normal.

Holy Week Communion Wednesday 12th April (10:15am)

Join us in the middle of the week for songs, Bible readings and pause for reflection.

Good Friday Breakfast and Communion

We serve Breakfast from 8am (join us as soon as you are able to) and then at 9am there is a short communion service with songs and readings. The service will finish at about 9:30am but don’t feel that you have to rush away. We’ll keep the building open for those who want to stay around and chat or to find a quiet place to read, pray and reflect.

Film Night ”Risen” Good Friday (14th April – 7:30pm)

Starring Joseph Finnes, this film looks at the Easter events from the perspective of the Centurion who was overseeing Jesus’ execution. The film will be followed by discussion

A Spanish Easter Celebration with Nueva Vida (15th April from 5pm)

Join us as we celebrate the good news of the Resurrection with Songs, Bible readings and prayer in Spanish.  We will be asking the question, “Why did Jesus rise?”

Easter Sunday Celebration (16th April 10:30am)

Join us for one of a “Big Service Together” with lively Easter hymns and a talk looking at the question “Resurrection: Fact or Fiction?”

The Big Question Easter Special (16th April 5pm or 7pm)

Join us as we ask the question “Can I trust God to keep his promises?” Each session will include a short talk followed by questions and discussion.  These will be café style events with tea, coffee and cake served throughout. Hot food will be available between 6pm-7pm.

You can find us at Bearwood Chapel, 445 Bearwood Road, Smethwick, B66 4DH,
