The deadline is fast approaching for September’s intake on the Union School of Theology’s GDIP programme.
This is a great way of training for Gospel ministry, gaining a theological qualification, studying with others whilst gaining lots of practical experience of pastoral ministry.
If you come and train at the Birmingham West Learning community (hosted here at Bearwood Chapel), then you have two options. One option is to simply access the GDIP teaching programme and enjoying the tutorial day together with other students whilst continuing in employment or gaining experience with another church part time.
However, we’d like you to seriously consider the other option which is to come and train with us here at Bearwood Chapel full time. This means that you would:
– Study the course materials for 2.5 days a week (including the tutorial day)
– Join our teaching team and gain experience of leading bible studies, preaching etc.
– Have the opportunity to get involved in a particular outreach ministry such as children’s work, ESOL classes, door to door, street evangelism or our community café
– Gain hands on experience of offering 1-1 pastoral care.
We think that this option is particularly suitable for people considering pastoral ministry in an urban setting as you will be living and serving in a multicultural-urban community. We are also keen to welcome people who are considering urban church planting and we would love to support you through training and into your first church plant.
There is a particular need for church planting and church revitalisation in the Sandwell, Black Country and West Birmingham area and our hope is that trainees will go on to pastor or to plant locally following their training.
If you want to join the GDip programme this September, please contact Union’s admissions team immediately (deadline 30th June) to get the ball rolling with them https://www.ust.ac.uk/admissions/enquiry-form
If you would like to take up the full time training option with Bearwood Chapel, please get in touch with Dave via our contact form or on 07791 622122.
