The calling of a pastor

It was a wonderful joy to see Hannes Ramsebner inducted as a co- pastor at Freikirche,

Manfred Eberhartinger, Adam Thomas, Dave Williams and Thomas Happel pray for Hannes (centre)

Traun in Austria last week (24th September).  Hannes came to Bearwood 5 years ago as part of an OM team and I remember the team arriving and meeting at our house one Saturday. We had a visiting pastor with us, Wesley Aiken from Rochester. Afterwards, Wesley told us that in Hannes we had “one to watch.”

He was right. It has been a joy to see Hannes grow in his faith, his pastoral gifts and his ability to teach God’s s word. First of all, we saw this as he spent time training and working with us and then as we sent him on for Theological Training at Union in Wales.  Many in the church would have loved to have kept him with us but we are greatly encouraged now to see him return to his native Austria.

As well as working in the church, preaching, leading Bible studies, encouraging evangelism and working with the young people, Hannes will share responsibility for a project working with migrants called I- Punkt. The project includes an After School club for migrant children on Tuesdays – Thursdays and Hannes induction coincided with the celebration of I Punkt’s 10th anniversary.  On the Saturday afternoon there was a street party with speeches, music, games and activities which many of the families came along to.

We will be continuing to pray for Hannes in his new work and for the church in Traun that they will be encouraged with much fruit.
